Techtainian

Nov 23

This used to be Techtainian’s website, no longer…

This tumblr has been Techtainian’s non-YouTube presence for a long time.  But with the creation of the new and redesigned website, this tumblr will still live on in some way, however right now we’re not sure how.  What we do know is that our new website has launched, or rather its landing page!

We’re launching the ‘full site’ soon and we want you to know about it - check it out at http://techtainian.com and sign up. We will send you an email when we launch!

Next Xperia announcement may come tomorrow

By Nick Maizlin

Thanks to a Facebook centered initiative called Fast Forward, people can get to choose as to when the next Xperia phone will be revealed, which is rumored to be the Sony ST21i “Tapioca.” Initially the date was set for June 22nd, and as Facebook likes are coming in strong and more people are pressing the fast forward button, the countdown clock speeds up. So now the date is set for the 13th. If that is indeed the case, let’s see what they cook up tomorrow for us!

New MacBook Pro Details - Retina Display!

By Nick Maizlin

When Apple creates devices, it strives to achieve two main things that don’t necessarily go hand in hand - speed and thinness (perhaps with the exception of the new iPad). And so Apple has now released the next-gen MacBook Pro, a speed demon packed in a very compact casing. In fact, it may not be such a stretch as to compare the new Pro to the Air, seeing as Apple chose to remove the optical drive. On the other hand, consumers are treated with the excellent Retina display, a quad-core i7 processor and an Nvidia GeForce 650M GPU. The rest is Apple standard, with 768GB of flash storage, HDMI, SD card slot, dual microphones and Thunderbolt ports as well as USB 3.0, a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and MagSafe 2. This MacBook is said to last you a good 7 hours.

The new MacBook is now on sale for - $2,199 for a quad-core i7 clocked at 2.3GHz, 8GB or RAM and 256GB of storage. Let’s get the show rock and rolling!

Sword fighting with ‘Clang’

By Nick Maizlin

For those of you who have been waiting for an honest and actually realistic sword fighting game, you’re in luck. Science fiction writer, Neal Stephenson is not exactly happy with the way swordfighting is done in video games. And so he believes it’s time for a revolution. Stepping away from the modern shooters, Stephenson is dedicated to make an arena-style fighting game that will be as realistic as possible, featuring various stances and actual sword combos to truly disable the opponent. And so begins the game Clang in tandem with Kickstarter to raise the required amount of money to make his vision a reality. And as we know, to make a realistic fighting game, Stephenson decided to ditch the classic controller-based approach. Perhaps it could’ve been accomplished with a Wii remote, but Stephenson has other ideas, instead deciding to use a low-latency, high-precision motion controller for the real deal. He says that to make such a game, everything needs to be taken one step at a time – in this case the focus is on the actual fighting mechanics and will later be expanded in terms of the story and various fighting styles.
